BERKLEY was a stray found in Houston by another rescue group that couldn't keep him, they had asked if they caught him, could I take him into rescue and I did.

On 7th April BERKLEY became a GaDaH Pack Member. He does have patches of hair loss which is caused by demodex mange and is being treated and he is doing great, its just really a matter of time to let his hair grow back.

This is NON-CONTAGIOUS and extremely common in strays and neglected abused dogs. The mites are basically in every dog but when the immune system is compromised that is when they become a problem.

So, whilst here at the rescue he is on Ivermectin (a liquid medication) which kills the mites and I always give lots of immune support, which of course is helping his body get back on track and then it can do what it is meant to do.

As for her personality - he is adorable - he can be a little wary of people initially and can shy away, but that is no doubt due to whatever this poor boy has been put through, he isn't bad with it and with love, affection and that perfect family environment he will soon get over it - he has improved a lot since he has been here so I have no worries about him there.

With other dogs he is so happy, he is confident, playful - he plays with the smaller pups and also the big dogs. He of course loves having his ears scratched and belly rubbed. He is VERY attentive and I would imagine he will be extremely responsive to training.

He was neuterd on Monday28th April 2015 and has done fine, with no problems with or after surgery. He is micro-chipped, rabies, current on his shots, the other rescue groups vets did do a heart-worm test on him which was negative and he has been on prevention since he has been here and I do not expect him to have any problems on that side of things either.

He has an estimated date of birth of 22 September 2014 - and at the time of his neuter surgery he weighed 19.20 pounds.

BERKLEY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450.

Our application can be found under the APPLICATION tab. More photo's of BERKLEY can be found by clicking on his picture under the GSD/Terrier tab

The rescue and BERKLEY is located in TEXAS, we post on out of state sites in hopes to find our precious saved souls a wonderful forever home, which would then enable us to save another dog from the KILL shelters here in Texas.

We use the professional transport company PETS LLC that pick up dogs in Texas and drives them with love and care along the way to meet their new families as they travel up the east coast.

They charge $175 per dog to transport and this fee is paid directly to PETS LLC and is in addition to the adoption fee.
