SINEAD was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services, due to her condition she was scheduled to be killed. Lucky for her we managed to save her.
As you can see from the photo's this poor girl is extremely emaciated and has been diagnosed with demodex mange which she is receiving treatment and antibiotics for her skin condition.
SINEAD when she first came to rescue was very vocal with the other dogs and would growl (not aggressively) if they came near. At first I thought she didn't want them near her, which is common when dogs have been so emaciated as they can be sore to touch or have very swollen feet. However, it soon became apparent that she didn't want them to come near me - she was claiming me- which again is very common for neglected and abused dogs. She is learning to share and realize that she will get lots of love and affection, but she just has to wait her turn.
Although I don't do any kind of training here at the rescue, SINEAD is very responsive and I believe will be very quick to learn and train. She has been estimated as around 3 years but her behaviour is that of a much younger dog. She is very happy and has a lot of playfulness in her.
SINEAD obviously has some healing to do before she is ready to go to her new perfect forever home, however, we are happy to take applications and process her adoption so that when she is well enough she can start her new wonderful life.
SINEAD will benefit from a family that is active and has time to spend with her guiding and training her to lay down expectations. It is best for the family to train her in basic and advanced obedience as this not only helps bonding, but it also allows both dog and human to learn more about each others' personaliites and body language which is very important. She will need someone who understands her need for MENTAL and physical exercise and understand that throwing a ball in the back- yard is not enough to give her what she needs. She will love to go places to see, smell and hear all the different things going on in the world.
SINEAD is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350.
Our application process and form can be found on our website under the APPLICATION tab. More photo's can be found by clicking her photo under the GSD/Terrier tab.
