STAR is a beautiful German Shepherd Dog who was a stray picked up by Animal Care Services, San Antonio and was due to be euthanized.

She is approximately 3 years old. She has had some training at some point as she walks on the heel, knows the command sit and is generally well behaved.

She was adopted out, however, seems to have a fixation with cats, and no matter what training the family tried with her, she will not leave the cats alone - so she is not able to go to a family with cats. She is absolutely great with young children, and is protective of the family, following them round and wanting to be with them.

Star would be best suited to a home that has experience of German Shepherds or similar working dogs, who has the time to spend with her, as a companion.

German Shepherds need plenty of physcical and mental exercise, otherwise they get bored, and can then become destructive.

Star will only be adopted out as an INSIDE DOG, no dogs with GaDaH will be adopted out to live as an outside dog.

Give a Dog a Home - San Antonio uses CALLAGHAN ROAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL for all animals medical needs.

If you have any questions, or would like to meet CLINT - please email Jenny

STARs adoption is a minimum donation of $250

The adoption process includes, but is not limited to:

  • A meet and greet at GaDaH.
  • An indepth application
  • A letter of reference from a current or former vet - on their letter headed paper
  • Two references from people who know you/family well
  • A meet and greet on neutral ground with any other dogs
  • A home visit
  • A home visit with STAR

Potential adopters are encouraged to meet STAR as often as they like, and no rush decisions made. If after the above, both parties would like to go forward with an adoption, then a TWO-WEEK Temporary foster contract is completed, before any adoption process can be complete. This is to ensure the potential adopters, STAR, and GaDaH are all happy.
