All of our available animals are located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. Once approved families are invited to schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and hopefully take home their new forever best friend.

DINAH is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 21 June 2021. Her mother is KEELY a Catahoula Leopard Dog. Her siblings had very strong cattle dog colorings and features. We cannot say for sure what breed mix she is, so we expect families to do their own research on her look and size and decide what breed you think she is and if you have the lifestyle suitable for her needs.

DINAH and her siblings have very strong personalities and are extremely confident. Dinah has been at the rescue since she was a few days old. Her mum and siblings have all been adopted and she is left waiting for her forever family.

True to her potential breed mix, Catahoula/CDattle dog, Dinah has a very strong, confident personality. She has potential to be an alpha dog with other less strong dogs and she has no problem going up to a 100 pound German Shepherd to try to take a bone from them. She is a bit growly when she has toys, but that is partly because she has lived here all her life and always has other dogs and pups wanting to play and share the toys. She has never been aggressive, but she is not one to be intimidated or back down.

Dinah is very affectionate and as with herding breed and intelligent dogs, she is my shadow. She wants a "master" to teach her what to do and to love and please with that fierce, unconditional loyalty. When playing with the other dogs, Dinah does nip at and grab other dogs legs, which again, is true to her breed, however, with small children, this can be a problem. She is doing what is natural to her, but could hurt a child, or an adult as she gets older. So, this is very important a family is aware of herding breeds characteristics and teach her what is not acceptable. It is also important when she is playing with other dogs, because, not all dogs like that kind of play and so close monitoring until dogs are very familiar with each other is also very important.

Being a high energy, intelligent breed, we are looking for a very active family for Dinah. As you can imagine, we have had lots of families wanting to adopt her, but they have not had the lifestyle that SHE needs to ensure she gets a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. She needs structured exercise, walks, hikes, treks, any kind of fun sport would be beneficial, agility and such too. Whilst playing in a large back yard is ok, it is not enough for intelligent dogs. They need to be able to use their senses and stimulate their brains, so adventures to different places is also important.

Dinah is at a great age to learn, she is very responsive and as she just wants to please her humans, she could very easily be trained to do anything you want to spend the time training her to do. On going training and puzzle toys that stimulate her brain are also great. She is still young and still a puppy so moderation of everything should be considered.
Families must be extremely active and have the time to work with a puppy and understand and be able to deal with confident, fearless pups to ensure they grow into well behaved, good natured adults.

She is very affectionate and loving and when I am out with them, will be close by. She sleeps on my bed and she loves to snuggle and give kisses.

DINAH is a very happy puppy, her personality is developing and so will grow into how you treat her, train her, socialize him and expose her to many different environments, people and situations. She is mouthy and has sharp teeth as all puppies do so take into consideration if you have small children.

DINAH is going to be a medium sized, high energy dog and so we are only accepting applications that has and will have the lifestyle that will be most beneficial to her needs, now and over the next 10+ years.

More pictures and possible video's can be found on her page on the rescue website.

You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3 month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure.

The rescue buys food in bulk, by the truck load and there are a variety of brands and flavours. None of the food given is less than a 4* food rating in accordance with  dogfoodadvisor.com . There have not been issues with eating any of the varying foods. It is important that you do your research on the ingredients and speak to your vet or a nutritionist on grain vs grain free!

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas, or other locations, countries to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed.

Canadian families must confirm with the border that they are able to cross and have the required vaccines, documentation and anything else needed to enter the US. Also it is important to know that Canadian Customs charge 15% taxes on the adoption when you return into Canada.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt,      then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue for meet/greet/adopt

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.
