GaDaH has received our second batch of saved kitties from Kabul, Afghanistan working with a veterinarian and rescue in KABUL, Afghanistan to help save some of their abundance of stray and abused animals.

PATTIE was flown into Washington DC, with 12 other kitties on 16th March and driven another 17 hours up to the rescue in Sebec, Maine.

Pattie is spayed, rabies, feline panleukopenia, herpesviral and caliciviral infection, dewormed, monthly preventatives, microchipped, weighs around 4.5 pounds and has an estimated date of birth of 15 January 2020.

Pattie arrived at the rescue and has been living in the bedroom with a few other cats. She was the first to come out from hiding and start to explore and has shown that she is a confident young kittie. Initially she didn't like any other cats coming near her and would strike out and hiss, however, with all that she has gone through, she is just clearly protecting herself in an unknown environment and unknown cats.

She is very playful and is very affectionate with humans. She has started to be playful with the other cats, but can be choosy who she likes. Although she will hiss and strike out as several other cats do also whilst they are transitioning to this new country, she has never been aggressive and attacked any of the other cats. I believe she would be happy being the only cat, but could transition with time, patience and no expectations to live happily with other cats. She loves to explore and is often up on the top of the door balancing whilst she checks out the other room. She has her spot on one of the cat tree's that she enjoys sleeping and relaxing, but also enjoys sitting in the window watching the dogs, birds and squirrels. She has been curious with the dogs who are at the other side of a gate and when one dog was allowed in the room she did go up and approach - there is a video of this. Quite the fearless kittie.

Considering the ordeal that these kitties have endured they have adapted into great companions. Whilst here at the rescue they have been kept indoors, however, I do believe that they had been mostly outdoor in Afghanistan, as they do act like they want to go outside, however, individual families will have to make that decision on their home and living environment and if need be, build or purchase a cat condo to give the cats the best of both worlds.

Pattie is available for an adoption fee of $200 each, or $150 each if adopting more than one kittie. We realise that this is considerably more than cats that can be bought online or with local rescues, however, it is important to remember where the boys have come from and understand that $200 doesn't come close to covering even a slight portion of costs incurred.

This fee is not negotiable. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.

Due to borders being closed, it is up to families to call the US and Canadian borders to find the current details on border crossing. Animal Welfare is deemed essential in the US, but quarantine rules entering back into Canada must be followed. We have had families being allowed to travel since Animal Welfare is deemed essential in the US, however, of course following quarantine rules must be followed when returning to Canada.

ALL animals are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
