KANE was saved  from a high kill shelter in Texas with his 3 siblings where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine  KANE is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 4 December 2019 and at the time of rescue in September 2020 weighed around 25 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.   

KANE and his siblings have settled in great, they are all happy, funny, loving pups. We did notice that they do walk strange, almost as if they are bowlegged so we was concerned about either hip or knee issues. It is with all 4 of the pups on both back legs so most definitely genetic. Khloe was taken to the vets and we had x-rays of her legs and hips and her knee's were manipulated to check for luxating patella.

The x-rays showed that her hips are formed and seated well, and after intense examination and manipulation there is no sign of luxating patella, the vet tried to dislodge the knee-cap but he couldn't do it - which is of course great. They So, the basic diagnosis is that they were just born with a strange gait there doesn't appear to be any pain and they don't act that they are in pain, so there is no surgeries or anything needed, however, as with every dog they must be monitored and have their annual check ups. They just walk with a strange gait.

The vet said they would be able to lead a happy, healthy life and of course with a happy, healthy life, their muscle tone will build up and they will be much happier, and they are already happy pups.

They are all very close, and we would love to adopt them in pairs, or at least with families who have another dog as they are happy social pups. They can be shy at times and so a patient, caring family is what we are looking for. They most likely will not do much more growing and will average around 30-35 pounds, is what we are guessing. They are very social and get on great with dogs of all ages and sizes, and other than being shy at times, as just mentioned they are very friendly, loving pups.

All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed.

We are not able to comment how any of our dogs are around cats or livestock, if you have either, then you must be responsible and ensure that other animals are protected, have escape routes and commit to spending time with an introduction, adjustment period.

KANE is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550. If interested in adopting him with one of his siblings the adoption fee for both dogs would be $1,000.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. Due to Covid restrictions, it is important Canadain families reach out to the border patrol fo rup to date factual information on re-entering Canada.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
