JUDGE was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine JUDGE is scheduled to be neutered on Friday 7th August, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He weighs around 71 pounds and
has an estimated date of birth of 21 June 2014, but could very well be between 4-6 years. His personality is definitely more of a 4 year old.
Judge was in bad shape when he arrived at the shelter, he had a swollen muzzle, an upper respiratory infection, (URI) a bad cough, heavily conjested, he was covered in fleas, had thinning hair, bad skin all over his back and was just depressed. He did respond well to medication, his skin started to clear up, he was on antibiotics for the URI and was thankfully deemed healthy and fit for transport.
Judge has settled in whilst being here at the rescue and truly is the sweetest soul. He is so gentle and loving, but will be playful and goofy when the mood takes him. He is great with other dogs and shares a double kennel with Wesley-girl and they play and interact with the dogs in kennels on either side of them also. He did go in the communal area and was fantastic with over 20 dogs of all ages and sizes from 3 month pups up to 90 pound Great Pyrenees, however, since he has not yet been neutered, he was getting a bit frisky with the ladies who had been recently spayed and so we needed to sadly put him back in the kennel.
A volunteer brings her 9 year old children to socialize, play and walk the dogs and Judge is a favourite of them all, he walks great on the leash for the kids, he is loving and affectionate and truly happy when they are with him.
Judge would benefit from an active family who can take him on lots of adventures, walks, hikes, to the beach, the lake and make up for all the time he had suffering and alone. He would be great with a family that had kids, or grandkids so he could shower them in his love and gentlenss - of course, all children should be respectful and supervised at all times. He still has some hair growth to come through so a good healthy diet, and supplements like coconut oil would benefit him. Be sure to check out his page on the rescue website for more pictures and videos.
All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed.
