BUCKY was saved  from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine  BUCKY is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 6 September 2016 and at the time of rescue in February 2020 weighed around 116 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.

BUCKY arrived at the rescue on Tuesday, 25th February and at 116 pounds, he is such a sweet, gentle giant. BUCKY has no idea why he is here, however, he settled into his kennel, he goes out in the run to do his business or to chill out enjoying the cool Maine weather. He takes treats very gently and loves to have his ear scratched and belly rubs. He will sneak out of the kennel and explore the room at the end of the kennels if he gets chance and is reluctant to go back into his kennel - but he is a good boy.

BUCKY needs a family that understands the GP breed mentality, these dogs can be stubborn and definitely have a mind of their own, they are gentle, laid back dogs, but need to know that they are not in charge and do need a strong personality in their family.

All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed.

All dogs are fed  Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison.  Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor’s second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars.

WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW HE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK.

BUCKY is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.
