TUCKER was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. TUCKER is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 21 March 2018 and at the time of rescue in the middle of April 2019, weighed around 42.60 pounds. He is listed as a Cattle Dog / Lab Mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.
We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so are unable to comment how any dog is or will be around them.
TUCKER is a sweet boy who was shy when he first arrived, but has really come out of his shell. He gets excited when I go over to his kennel and loves to have cuddles, ear scratches and belly rubs. He is a gentle, affectionate boy, who would make a great family pet. He is great with other dogs and shares a double kennel with Harmony and they love to play and wrestle and then cuddle up together on their dog bed at nighttime.
As with all dogs he will need basic and advanced training so that he can learn his families rules, boundaries and expectations. TUCKER is very responsive and I feel that he will be easy and fun to train and will be eager to please. He is a gentle boy and I think would make a great family dog.
Tucker would do great with an active family who understands the importance of both physical exercise and mental stimulation. He would benefit from walks and adventures and having other dog friends to play and chase with so he can burn off some energy. I think going to his new home at first he will be shy and quiet but once he knows he is safe and trusts his family he will be a great new addition.
All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550.
Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org
