STELLA was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. STELLA is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative, and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 15 September 2014 and at the time of rescue at the end of September 2018 weighed around 9.00 pounds. She is listed as a Poodle mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.

STELLA is in need of a good groom, her hair is long and she has a few matts. I am hoping to find a volunteer to come and shave her down before adoption, but it would be best to expect to need to get her groomed after adoption in case I have not been able to achieve this.

STELLA  does have a long coat which is going to take a good level of care and maintenance and this must be a consideration when thinking about giving this beautiful girl a home. If her grooming needs are not stayed on top of, her hair will matt and become painful. Groomers can be expensive so unless you are able to groom her yourself, this extra cost must be taken into account.

She is a sweet girl who generally keeps herself to herself most of the time, she has a few friends that she hangs around with, but doesn't get involved of the hustle and bustle of lots of dogs at play. If I am around, she is around and wherever I am and  she loves to get snuggles and her ears scratched.

She is good with other dogs and enjoys their company, currently living with dogs from 6 pound chihuahua's up to 120 pound German Shepherd Dogs. She is friendly and happy to greet people. She enjoys exploring outside and when ready to rest he curls up with her friends in front of the pellet stove keeping toasty warm. She is always happy to see people and runs in with the other dogs, tail wagging. 

She is going to need a family that understands the need to keep on top of her being groomed, so she does not have to endure the mess she is currently in again. She is a nice age, not too young but still active and so a family that goes on adventures is preferred.  She has never shown any kind of aggression at all, as mentioned she lives, eats and sleeps with two other dogs and enjoys the company and so a family with another dog would be great, but if not then it is important that she gets to play and interact with other dogs throughout her life. We do NOT recommend dog parks for several months until a bond and trust and knowing to read his body language has been gained.

All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.  We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
