WYLE-E was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. He is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 12 April 2016 and has an estimated weight of 48 pounds. WYLE-E has been listed as an Australian Shepherd. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think his breed/s is.
It is important to note that WILE-E is a high energy herding breed and you really need to be experienced with this working group, or at least have done a lot of research, have support and confident you have the lifestyle to accommodate this beautiful girl.
WILE-E is a handsome boy, he does need to gain some weight as he is quite thin, but is eating well at the rescue. He is the dog that will pick up his bowls and take them outside, or tip them upside down when bored. He doesn't like being in a kennel although he has toys and Kongs to try and keep him busy he really needs a family that can give him lots of mental stimulation. He loves to meet people and at times gets all excited and can be vocal. He loves to run and chase and play and basically do anything that requires burning energy. It would be good to have another dog so he can play and burn off some of the excess energy. He is a very happy, playful boy, full of fun, life and energy. He LOVES to chase the hose and play with the water, so I am sure trips to the lake or his own doggy-pool to play in will be great for him.
WILE-E although estimated to be just over a year old old is still very "puppy", but is also very affectionate and loves to get cuddles and his belly rubbed and ear scratched. He loves toys and especially loves to chew on the cow hooves. He gets on great with other dogs of all sizes. We do NOT have cats at the rescue so are unable to say how he would get on with cats.
WILE-E does walk on a leash, however, she feels the need to hold the leash and will need some work to stop her doing this if leash walking in public places is intended.
WILE-E is going to need a family that is used to high energy, smart dogs, preferably someone who is familiar with the shepherd breed. Someone who understand that he will need training and guidance and learns that humans are in charge so that he doesn't get too much of a handful. He is going to need a very active family who can give him the lifestyle that he needs. Playing ball in the back-yard is not enough for this boy, he is going to need a lot of physical and mental exercise. Going on road trips, to new places, hikes and adventures and letting him explore the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer will be to his and your benefit.
He is going to need a family that understands the importance of basic and advanced training. We advise that families work on their own basic training so that boundaries and expectations can be set and personalities and body language learnt in the process, which will help form a much stronger bond.
WILE-E is located in our kennel building and uses the extreme weather dog door to get in and out to his run. He has not had any accidents in the kennel.
WILE-E will make a great family addition to an experienced family. He is fun, active and very loving and deserves a good family and home to call his own.
WILE-E is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500.
This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.
Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

WILE-E is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
