LILAC is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick disease tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 21 December 2015 and as of October 2016 weighed approximately 20 pounds. Since she is around a year old she will most likely stay with in the 20-30 pound weight range.
LILAC originally came from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs generally have just 3 days to be saved before they are killed due to the thousands of stray dogs that sadly are in desperate need of life of the streets and ultimately a home of their own.
LILAC is one of those dogs that you cannot help but to fall in love with. She is so sweet, adorable and has so much affection and love to give it would last you 20 life-times. Her tail wags her whole body she is that happy and excited. She is a nice medium sized girl who does jump up when excited, but with some training and guidance she will quickly learn how to behave.
LILAC needs a family that has the time and patience to work with her on basic and advanced obedience training. It is beneficial for her family to train her so that they and she can learn each others body language and personalities whilst providing expectations, boundaries and guidelines for her to learn. It also helps create a much stronger bond.
LILAC would love an active family that will take her on lots of adventures and road trips, she is young and energetic and needs to be able to release that energy and have her mind challenged to keep her happy. She will be happy to climb on your lap, or beside you on the couch and snuggle up whilst you read a book or watch TV. She is great with children and is a lot of fun, however, initially until she has learned some manners in regards to her jumping she would need to be watched as she does get excited, but it is so sweet to see.
LILAC lives at the rescue with 20+ dogs of all ages and sizes ranging from 6 pound chi's to 95 pound German Shepherd Dogs. She gets on fine with them all and has not had any problems. She loves to play and wrestle with any of them that wants to play.
We do not have cats at the rescue so we are unable to say how any of our dogs would react around cats.
We currently feed SPORTMIX Wholesomes Chicken Meal & Rice Formula, a 4* (a per www.dogfoodadvisor.com) GRAIN FREE food along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements listed on the available dogs page!
LILAC is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
