PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ ALL THE INFORMATION PROVIDED TO LEARN ALL ABOUT BRANDY, HER LOCATION AND ADOPTION OPTIONS.
BRANDY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, heart-worm treated, tick disease tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped. She has been aged by the shelter as around 4 years old, but acts a lot younger. At the time of rescue she weighed around 63 pounds.
BRANDY is a great girl who has a mischievous side to her. She is affectionate and will nudge your hand to ensure you know she wants some loving. She is great with other dogs and currently lives at the rescue with 20+ dogs ranging from 6 pound chi's to 95 German Shepherds. She does get a little curiously playful with the smaller dogs but has not done them any harm, I think she is more amused by them.
We do not have cats in the rescue, however, I do believe that she will have a strong curiosity towards them.
BRANDY walks ok on a leash and as with all dogs going to their new forever families would need and benefit from basic and advanced obedience training. This not only helps form a strong bond, but also sets down boundaries and expectations and allows both humans and dogs to learn each others personalities and body language.
BRANDY would benefit from an active family that will be happy to take her on lots of adventures to explore the sights, sounds and smells the world has to offer. She has so far ridden great in the car and is responsive and generally well mannered.
Information from BRANDY's foster mum whilst she was in Texas for two weeks waiting transport:
She is very interested in my cat. She has not shown negative aggression and has come face to face with her several times. Just sniffing. Then the cat goes to her hiding spot. She is obsessed with trying to get to her when Kitty is hiding in the garage or on the other side of the fence. She runs around trying to get to the hiding spot (which I can't even get to) and runs the fence. No barking or whining. I have not brought the cat inside to see how they get along yet. She does like the cat food, which she go to once. Please note that my cat is declawed and is used to being around large dogs and really doesn't care too much about them. Other cats may scratch Brandy, putting her in her place.
Brandy has a ton of puppy energy and really needs a very active family to give her energy a place to go. Preferably with another dog as she is very playful with my other dogs. She loves squeaky toys and bones to chew on. She is has a happy personality and snuggles and plays and very very curious.
We currently feed Sportmix Wholesomes Chicken Meal and Rice (4 stars) as per www.dogfoodadvisor.com along with pro-bioitics and immune support supplements.
BRANDY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

BRANDY is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.
