SISSY, along with her brother were owner surrenders to a rescue in San Antonio Texas whom we agreed to transfer into GaDAH for easier adoption in the North East. Sadly SISSY's brother died before the transfer could take place.

SISSY is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, lepto vaccine, Snap 4DX heartworm and tick disease tested negative, de-wormed and micro-chipped. SISSY weighs around 77 pounds and has a date of birth of 16 April 2014.

SISSY arrived at the rescue confused and clearly missing her family and her brother and she did want to be as close as possible and exhibited signs of separation anxiety. This was not in a destructive way, but more vocal, if behind a gate, she would try and get over it to be on the side I was. She has never caused damage to anything or herself.  Since being at the rescue several weeks, she has got much better and enjoys being with the rest of the dogs, she does prefer to be with her human, but is happy enough, playing out, or lounging around with them.

SISSY is a large girl and will need a family that has the time to give her plenty of exercise, take her on great adventures, road trips and let her explore the sights, sounds, smells the world has to offer. She is well mannered, although at times does have the slight neediness, but that is due to insecurity and will definitely subside over time.

SISSY, as with all dogs would benefit and enjoy basic and advanced obedience training. Doing this with her family would benefit both her and them so that each can learn body language, personalities, boundaries and expectations.

SISSY walks good on the leash and loves to ride in the car. Although I was told she was house-trained, when SISSY got to the rescue she did have several accidents, however, I put that down to the stress, upset and anxiety she had and was going through and within a week or so, she was soon going out the doggy door that is available to the dogs 24/7 and since then we have had no accidents.

SISSY is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $450.

SISSY is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. There is a local hotel in Dover-Foxcroft that is pet-friendly (approx 6 miles) and several in Bangor (approx 45 miles). There are also lots of wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
