A PET IS FOR LIFE -        THINK ABOUT THE INVESTMENT!

WANDA is spayed, core vaccines, de-wormed, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested and microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 14 July 2018 and weighs around 63 pounds. She had a litter of puppies and has been the most gentle, sweet caring mother. W e cannot say for sure what breed he is, so we expect families to do their own research on his look and size and decide what breed you think he is and if you have the lifestyle suitable for his needs.

WANDA was in bad shape when she arrived at the rescue, she was skin and bone, had 10 puppies. She had Entropion on both eyes, which is an abnormality of the eyelids in which the eyelid rolls inward.  This inward rolling often causes the hair on the surface of the eyelid to rub against the cornea resulting in pain, corneal ulcers, perforations, or pigment developing on the cornea which can interfere with vision. She had a mild skin infection, but was the most loving, wonderful mum to all her pups.

Wanda did have surgery on both her eyelids and is now so much happier. Although her eyes have healed, she still does have a few stitches that have not yet dissolved and they stick out, looking almost like fa lse eyelashes. The vet has said it is best to just leave them to dissolve over time as taking them out will cause pain/discomfort with them being in such a sensitive area. She had antibiotics for her coat and it is now all soft and shiny.

Wanda is a very sweet, loving girl who is fantastic with other dogs of all ages and sizes. She is a typical pitbull who is just overflowing with affection. She is a gentle soul who deserves a wonderful life and family. She has been living in the house with a lot of other dogs, pups and shares sleeping, eating and drinking with all the others and has never had any problems. She uses the dog door to go outside, however, I cannot say she is house-trained since she may not know to let you know she wants to go out.

The times she has been to the vets, she gets so excited when she see's the leash and jumps eagerly in the car, she has been great with all vet techs and the vet and everyone has commented on her gentle, sweet demeanor. She just loves everyone and is constantly wagging her tail. She enjoys home comforts of lying on the couch or one of the big thick dog beds, often cuddling with other dogs or pups.

Wanda is a medium, large, moderately active dog and so we are only accepting applications that has and will have the lifestyle that will be most beneficial to her needs, now and over the next 8+ years.

More pictures and possible video's can be found on her page on the rescue website.

You MUST understand that dogs need time to decompress and adapt to their new environment and home. It is a HUGE transition they make from the kill shelter, being vetted, on transport for 3 days and arriving in Maine where the temperature and such is very different to what they have only known. In rescue there is what is known as the "3 Point Rule" Days 1-3 your dog is stressed, anxious, confused as to where they are now. Weeks 1-3 your dog is adjusting, settling in, learning things. At the 3 month point, your dog understands they are home, and have built up a trusting relationship where they feel loved and secure.

All dogs are fed Rachael Ray Nutrish PEAK Natural Dry Dog Food, Grain Free Western Grasslands Recipe with Bison. Rachael Ray Nutrish Peak Dog Food receives the Dog Food Advisor’s second-highest tier rating of 4.5 stars.

ALL dogs are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550 or if adopting two dogs/pups $1,000 for both dogs.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas, or other locations, countries to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.

Due to borders being closed, it is up to families to call the US and Canadian borders to find the current details on border crossing. Animal Welfare is deemed essential in the US, but quarantine rules entering back into Canada must be followed.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the ADOPTION INFO tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 1-2 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt,  then we can schedule your appointment to come to the rescue for meet/greet/adopt

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.
